Confused about MLA format for summary?

If I am summarizing an article, do I need to incorporate citations throughout the article or do I just put it in my own words and cite the whole article? I'm not really sure what to do because a summary is essentially paraphrasing and condensing information, but at the same time I don't want to incorrectly cite things and be accused of plagiarism, but I feel like citing every little sentence is redundant.
