1986 Ford Bronco II rear dome light not working?

In my bronco II the rear dome light works with the doors open or the hatch open but when i open the gl and go to push the on to turn it on manually it dose not work but some times it will flash then go right back off. So do i need to take it off and clean the contacts and if i do how do i take it off with out braking it.
