Do you think this letter to my mom about getting a C+ in math is okay?

I think it sounds good. But a C+ is nothing to be ashamed about. A C is average so really you should have no problem. The 50% wasn't so good but maybe you were having an off day. Anyway, if you are really sure you want the stuff taken away, then go for it, it's a pretty brave thing to do.
