Why doesn't the government care that 47% of Americans don't have healthcare coverage yet it cares about Iraq?

It can afford to spend trillions and lose the lives of thousands of servicemen in order to overthrow the Iraqi government to reform it so they treat the Iraqi people better (even though Iraqis didn't complain or ask for help) all the while almost half the people back home can't even afford to have healthcare coverage. Is something wrong with this picture?
